What is the varnamale?
The varnamale (ವರ್ಣಮಾಲೆ) is the complete Kannada alphabet — the full set of letters used to read and write the language. It has 49 core letters: 15 swaragalu (vowels) and 34 vyanjanagalu (consonants).
Vowels come first, then consonants. Once both are learned, the kagunita shows how each consonant pairs with every vowel to spell real words.
